An Introduction

A fuzzy mind can be clear

Welcome to Subconcious Latch-up.

What is Subconcious Latch-up?

Latch-up is a phenomenon in semiconductor electronics where a subtle error in design means that under certain conditions a short circuit is formed with sudden high current. Subconscious Latch-up takes it's name from this and wonders if something similar in the brain (in the subconscience) could be possible ... could a certain input or combination of inputs (music, art, literature, etc) cause a metaphorical short-circuit and sudden higher consciousness. Don't worry, this is just a metaphor.

"Belief Is The Death Of Intelligence"

- Robert Anton Wilson

Bearing this, to many, self-evident truth in mind, Subconscious Latch-up has no beliefs. It does, however, have assumptions.

Assumptions:

1) The human mind is a purely physical machine. There is nothing else. All consciousness, imagination and creativity arise from this physical machine.

2) The human mind could be emulated by a "non-living" machine. A "non-living" machine could be as conscious, imaginative and creative as the human mind.

Subconcious Latch-up aims to explore living and non-living consciousness, imagination and creativity; creating a positive feedback loop between the two, driving humanist and post-humanist intelligence upwards. Creating a Subconscious Latch-up.

What path Subconcious Latch-up will take to progress this is not yet clear as (another assumption) some form of evolution and selection will be required. Design alone will not achieve this.
